Anyone Here Watch MMA?

Like the title says anyone else here watch Mixed Martial Arts, like UFC or Strikeforce?

I want to but I don't have cable anymore now that I'm in my new apartment and I'm too lazy to watch online lol

Oh ok! Well there will be Strikeforce on CBS sometime. I'll let you know when it is on. They have some good fighters, not quite the level of the UFC, but they have a couple world class ones who got disgruntled with the UFC and left.

There will be a new event on CBS on the 17th with Dan Henderson. Dan Henderson is one of my favorite's from the UFC. He is coming off a winning streak there and he left because they wouldn't pay him enough to stay.

Well, i got some dvds, but notting more than that. I dosent get as hyped from watching that as i get when i watch Wrestling

Ya with wrestling you are guaranteed more entertainment, but with MMA you never know what you are going to get.

I watch UFC almost every day. I was actually thinkin of tryin out MMA after i slim down a lil.

That is cool! Now that I see more people into MMA around here I will do more posts on it. I first got into it by watching the Ultimate Fighter, and seeing how much catch wrestling technique there actually was. So when fans these days are booing the ground game, I am loving it lol.

For those who don't know some of these guys.

- Dan Henderson is one of the top fighters at 185. He is so good that he held the 185 and 205 weight class titles in Pride before it shut down. He was on a UFC winning streak and left when the UFC refused to give him a decent contract.

-Gegard Mousasi has been on a HUGE undefeated streak. If he faced the UFC 205 pound champion, Lyoto Machida, I could see him taking the belt.

-Shinya Aoki is pretty much the top pound for pound fighter in Japan. Although that doesn't mean he could beat UFC champions, but he should put on a show for any fan of grappling!

I wasn't able to see the Strikeforce event because I was at my friend's birthday party. But from what I read, all of those guys lost, and overall the event was really bad lol.

Here are my thoughts on it.
- The fights weren't too bad as I am a fan of grappling (although some fans were booing)
- More fighters outside of the US (Gegard and Aoki) need to spend more time grappling with american wrestlers so they can have a defense against them.
- Dan Henderson needs to have his back fixed or needs to retire as he could have reversed Sheild's a ton of times if he could bend his back!
- Sheilds needs to practice more throwing punches from his hips. He could learn than from boxers or more importantly the Russian Red Dog Sport team.
- The 10 on 1 brawl at the end was solely the fault of Caesar Gracie's team. There seems to be a widespread lack of discipline and humbleness in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which is pretty much Gracie Jiu Jitsu. They got away with it in Brazil where they weren't facing professional grapplers. But now if they dont want to remain rag-dolls for american wrestlers, greg jackson's submission fighting, and 9th planet jiu jitsu for 2nd rank promotions they need to learn the discipline of a fighter.

Or instead you could use MMA to slim down. We've found several gyms around here and one of them is an official UFC one. Sign up for training and soon enough you'll be bashing skulls while looking good doing it.

I think after high school I'll try to get some MMA training. Maybe it will help my wrestling like it's helped Bryan Danielson's.
